The 1st Academy Awards were held on May 16, 1929, at a private dinner held at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles, California. The nominees were notified through a telegram in February 1928 and the winners had been announced three months ahead of the ceremony. 270 people attended the event, which lasted only 15 minutes!<\/p>\n

The second ceremony was held on April 3, 1930, at an awards banquet in the Cocoanut Grove of the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. This was the first Academy Awards ceremony broadcast on radio!<\/p>\n
